steaming poo sm

Hooray us! We just applied for our first grant. What does a steaming pile of poo have going for it that makes it grant worthy, you ask? Well that steam means heat and if you can capture that heat, you’re off to a great start for creating a closed loop, zero waste heat system. We applied for the resources to build just exactly that for our chicken coops, greenhouses, and barn for next winter. Why not? We have the poop and bales of hay, with some other resources and effort, next winter we could be producing all the warmth we need without depending on electricity. Want to know more? Join us for a conversation on compost the first weekend in March.

About StoryRock

Once upon a time, some people who love the world dreamed of having a farm. They wanted their farm to be a place where all kinds of people could come together and learn about connection. Connection with nature, connection with animals and other species on the planet, connection with each other, and most importantly, connection with themselves.

They wanted to participate in small-scale experimental farming and habitat enrichment while also producing sustainable food, herbs, and flowers for the farm, community, and beyond.

They wanted to explore and uphold the ecological principles underlying resilient and sustainable agriculture, animal wellbeing, and pollinator habitat cultivation all the while inspiring other people to join in, participate, and explore the possibilities of a more connected life.

They also wanted to be sure that their farm was a place that embraced the whimsical as well as the practical, feeding the soul as well as the body and mind.

So one day, an amazing thing happened. A good fairy came into their lives and said, I know just the place for you. And tapping her chin three times she pointed them towards a field, and at the edge of this field was a giant rock. Now this rock was not just any rock, it hummed with potential and begged for stories to be told and dreams to be revealed.

So the people sat and began their tale with "Once upon a time..." and StoryRock came to life...

From big dreams and simple beginnings and beyond…

We like to think of StoryRock Farm as a beloved “Third Place”.

Ray Oldenburg (1989) identifies the “Third Place” as an important anchor of community life. An anchor that facilitates creative interaction and serves to nourish and regenerate not only the participating individuals but also the surrounding environment.

Third Places serve as neutral hubs of collaboration and collective endeavor. Establishing a sense of “home away from home” and encouraging the experience of rootedness and a sense of place that allows for not only physical and mental regeneration but also the regeneration of spirit and soul.

We have even bigger dreams... so stay tuned and watch us grow.

Farm Stand and Food Hub

We started out as a big idea and a simple bake stand under a blue awning. Committed to traditional, local, delicious, and nourishing, Sweet Pea Kitchen, in the summer of 2020, began its mission to brighten the world through food.

And now how we've grown! As a farm stand/food hub, we’d like to support the activities of local growing and production of healthful and nourishing foods. At present, we feature local vegetables and fruits when possible, and also baked/prepared foods and items from The Sweet Pea Kitchen and Magical Medicinals.

The Wyyldwood Project

StoryRock Farm and LiveLifeResources are committed to cultivating a culture of connection and partnership between humans and the natural world.

It is our aim to engender not only feelings of environmental stewardship, but also the desire to dive deeper into the realms of eco-collaboration and the creation of vibrant shared living systems with the Earth and all her inhabitants.

The Wyyldwood is comprised of roughly 300 acres of forested countryside in the Southwest corner of Vermont. Lush forest, clear streams, and open meadows with small parcels of regenerative farmland intermixed, welcome participants to rejuvenate their senses and connect with the natural world.

Health Initiative

In affiliation with LiveLifeResources, a 501(c)3 corporation committed to cultivating resilience in individuals, families, and communities, we are offering classes and workshops dedicated to enhancing health and well-being and other aspects of resilient and regenerative living. For more information and a schedule of offerings check out www.liveliferesources.com

Art Cooperative

We have a dream of connecting with the creative community that surrounds us. We know there are artisans, crafters, creators, musicians, makers, throughout the community and we are excited to gather and share and create together when possible.

This feels especially important during our current times, in a world of physical distancing and other necessary precautions in public locations.  It's a critical time for making soulful connections.
